A man in his 80s received what the police described as "serious leg injuries" after being hit by a car outside Tesco Express on St David's road at around 9pm on Saturday evening.
The man was taken to hospital, where he continues to be treated.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, and Lancashire Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Contrary to initial reports on other local amateur news sites, there were no fatalities. The road was closed for around an hour.
